The wonders of bondaweb

I had a great weekend. I think we all did. A mix of walks outside, swimming, mini-rugby (not for Finn as he's still out of action after his broken arm) and some time inside playing, reading and boardgames. The boardgames were a huge bonus for me as John took charge and kept the children amused leaving me to do some sewing. I had a chance to use my new scissors (what a difference) and realise I took the difficult option with some of my Christmas present making.



I made the teatowels in the photo above before Christmas (excuse the wrinkles - ironing isn't really my thing but I did remember to do it before we handed them over) as presents for the boys' teachers and the two ladies who run Islay's music class. I made little fabric bags to hold the teatowels and added a few chocolates too. I was reasonably pleased with the end result BUT it wasn't easy. I battled away with little geese shapes that wouldn't stay still, despite an army of pins. I know I'm not patient but it really did seem quite ridiculous.



This weekend I played around with a couple of teacosy designs - while John persevered with the bad losing and excitement that comes with boardgames. It was so much easier with bondaweb and I'm much happier with the finish.



As for the teacosies - I did have to do a bit of seam ripping. Did you spot the tab sticking out the wrong way in the pic above? I didn't, well, not until it had been carefully sewn up in the middle of six layers (outer, wadding, lining, lining, wadding, outer). Still the bonus with mistakes is the learning process. I'll probably get tabs in the right position for a little while.



I had a lovely Planning Meeting last night with L and V (I think John might call them Prattling Meetings). We are all fans of the outdoors and walking and it doesn't take much for one of us to persuade the others into dropping whatever else we should be doing and heading off out. Hence the Planning Meeting. Its important to get these things right and the school gate isn't nearly good enough. We need at least one Planning Meeting per outing. So last night, in amongst tea and biscuits and lots of general blethering, we fixed up to head off to the Lammermuir Hills on Thursday morning for a half day's escape. Can't wait.
