I managed to finish the apron for my sister-in-law and it was delivered on time on her birthday - day before would have been better but I was still quite chuffed with myself.

I mentioned a few posts ago that I'd had a delivery from Saints and Pinners. I thought it was about time to reveal my lovely fabric. It was all bought with specific plans in mind. So first up we have fabric to make a practice version of a dress to wear for my cousin's wedding::
- the main fabric here is an Ikea duvet cover which I have cut up (nice and cheap at £7.99 and I quite like it altho' it is very lightweight)
- the pale blue is Annette Tatum's Little House Tile Frost (very pretty and not really something I'd use for a dress normally but I quite like it with the Ikea print)
The dress pattern is Anna Maria Horner::

Next we have the fabric for the proper version of the dress::
- the main fabric is Amy Butler's Love Water Bouquet Mint
- the contrast is Amy Butler's Love Bouquet Midnight
Finally here's the fabric to make a prezzie for my cousin (patchwork picnic blanket)::
- from the top down: 1. Lizzy House's Ugly Duckling Pond, 2. Erin McMorris' Park Slope Flower Field Turquoise, 3. Amy Butler's Love Sunspots Mint, 4. Alexander Henry's Holland Tulip Blue, and 5. Anna Maria Horner's Four Square Sea Voile (may need to use some interfacing with it?)
I haven't worked out the design for the picnic blanket. I expect it'll be squares - maybe 3 by 5 or 4....not sure. I'll need to work out a back and binding somewhere further down the line - just not too much longer or I'll not be meeting my deadlines!
This mammoth order also included a pattern from Oliver and S to make some summer clothes for Islay (maybe next year?!)::

And as for deadlines I have almost completed the practice version of the dress. Its unlike me to be so cautious but I haven't ever really followed dress patterns before, I usually just make stuff up, so I thought I ought to do it properly (actually I'm not following this pattern to the letter either). I'm glad I decided to be sensible this time. I think the practice will be wearable, and I haven't been nearly so careful with it as I will with the proper one, but there are a few bits that aren't quite up to scratch.......and that's before I've put the zip in and hemmed it! If I do ever wear it it'll be cut up to sundress length and the bottom end used to make cushion covers for the dining room (and one day there'll be a throw and a blind too).
Phew. Its by far the biggest fabric order I've made especially with the amount of Amy Butler Love needed for a full length dress. So much fun and felt quite naughty too!

How nice is the fabric you've chosen? I too am yet to make the self same dress, need to hurry as fly off to my wedding in 10 wks!! I'm going to use AMH voiles, froth plain voile for the main, and forest hills sweet and forest hills bouquet for the zig zags. Let me know how it goes! Justine xx
Hiya all - thanks very much for the comments. Walking was fab and the weather was perfect but I'm quite stiff now. I'll post up a photo of the proper dress when its done (may be on a hanger rather than being modelled tho'!).
