Hi all. I've got lots to share today so I'm afraid I'll be stretching my attention span (and yours?!), definitely mine, with three completely unrelated topics. Here goes::

1. Camping last weekend
We had the most fabby night away camping last weekend. We don't get away in the tent nearly enough but we decided to set a date in the calendar and just go for it. And it really paid off. We had a wonderful time and found a great spot. I'll share it with you if you promise not to tell too many people about it!

Having said that the facilities were somewhat basic (toilets = 2x portaloos, and showers in an old trailer!) so may not be everyones cup-of-tea. We found Tibbie Shiels, in the Scottish Borders, after hunting for somewhere that definitely wasn't a caravan park. We had a miserable night a couple of years ago at a huge static caravan park near Berwick on Tweed - beautiful town and lovely trip but we've sworn never to go somwehere like that again.

Tibbie Shiels is the opposite. Its an old, old pub between two lochs in an isolated spot and the campsite is the field next to the pub. There was only 1 other tent apart from us. No cars allowed in the field so the boys were free to run around and play football and cricket. Islay pottered around by the loch throwing stones and we sat back and watched them all!

Sorry for dodgy photo quality - I still haven't made peace with my camera.
2. Calling all quilters
Maria and I are looking for the last few people to make up our Fresh and Funky Quilting Bee (there's lots more info in my last post). So, if you've been mulling it over please just jump in and give it a go - its going to be fun and I know that I at least will learn loads along the way as well as making some new friends.

If its not your thing or you are too busy to join in perhaps you could spread the word to anyone who might be interested?
3. Raising money for Cancer Research
A wee while ago I mentioned the raffle Abby is organising to raise money for Cancer Research (www.justgiving.com/abby-and-friends). The total is now over £300 and Abby is hoping to get it to £400 by Sunday (the raffle will be drawn at 8pm Sunday UK time). Pop over and have a look at the great treats you could win. Thanks so much.

Well, here's to another fantastic weekend. Its beautiful here today - sunny, warm and still. Long may it continue.

Julie, your camping trip looks fantastic. We bought a tent from our neighbour last year that is just like yours, but will still have not ventured out in it..
Maria - its great fun tho' I do find it takes a lot of list making, packing and unpacking (and despite this I forgot all but one towel this time, oops). I'm not sure how old your littlest is but now that Islay is 3 and out of a cot/travel cot its much easier. Juliex
Mmm my youngest is two, but in a normal bed, I just feel like were are, at last, getting to the stage when we don't need all that 'stuff' we don't even need a buggy as much now as she will walk for miles ! Maybe we should be brave and go for it..I think its the thought of not being able to get the tent up right that worries more than anything !
That looks like a great campsite. We like them with open fields and no entertainment!
Maria - I wish Islay would walk for miles - she can when she wants but she's often a lazy so and so. Could you practice in the garden first? Juliex
Mrs madhouse- you obviously like the same kind as us! Juliex
Sounds lovely. When N's a little older I'd quite like to go camping for the odd couple of nights, so long as the weather is nice! Will bear in mind your campsite for then.
Ohhhhh camping! Next time you're in New Zealand (LOL ~ like you just 'pop on over') I'll let you in on our secret camping hideaway! Roll on summer so we can pull our tent out and get back to being one with nature.
Am about to blog about the quilting bee also!
Anne - yes, good weather does help! I'm sure you'd all have fun. Juliex
Cat - I would LOVE to visit New Zealand (both my brothers have stayed for several months working, travelling and playing rugby). Its on my 'to do' list (but may take a while to manage!)....and I'll get you to tell me where to camp when we make it! Juliex
What a lovely place to camp.
They are definitely better when just a field and a toilet and no cars sounds like a good idea.
Hope the quilting bee goes well, if you do one next year I'd be interested but right now I'm struggling to even find 10 mins to sew, very frustrating but I guess it's the reality of having 3 under five. Bless them!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Jenny- It will get easier! Mine were all under five for most of a year and I do remember it being hard going at times. It is much easeir now, tho' I still struggle to find as much time to sew as I'd like....I guess that will always be the way.
I'll hold you to that if/when we start up another, would be good to have you on board! Juliex
We went camping last year when the boys were just 2 and just 5 - they loved it but I think I like the idea of it rather than the actual doing it --- but saying that hub wants to go camping next week !!
Periwinkle - it can be quite a hassle to organise and sort afterwards! But, if the location is as good as this it can be so much fun. Julie
PS I'll be interested to hear whether you go next week - if you do hope you have a great time!
