About Forest PoppyI'm an outdoor girl who also loves sewing. My main job is bringing up my four children, they range from 10 down to two years, and I try to find some time for my husband too! As a family we love to spend as much time out and about as possible and we are very lucky to live in beautiful East Lothian with easy access to beaches, hills, woods and fields.But.......I also really really love to sew and I squeeze in as much as I possibly can. Since stopping work 6 years ago (I was a forester and ecologist for many years) I have re-found my creative side and sewing helps keep me balanced alongside a crazy chaotic house full of six noisy and energetic people (and pets too - at the moment we have a puppy, two cats, a rabbit and hamster just to make sure we don't get bored!). I have had tutorials featured in The Village Haberdashery and sell my handmade textiles at Peter Potter Gallery in Haddington, East Lothian. It is in the prettiest location and, as well as a lovely shop full of handmade goodies and an inspiring gallery, the coffee shop has delicious home baking! Online, I sell my handmade textiles from forestpoppy.com and am branching out into teaching too. I have taught several local people over the last few months and, following some excellent feedback after teaching at the The Stitch Gathering 2013, I now offer bespoke tutoring. |
