Do you remember my Silverpebble charm necklace? The lovely Emma made it for me a little over two years ago (I am really bowled over by how long ago that sounds, it feels like the blink of an eye). I had a late miscarriage that Autumn and my necklace was a treat for myself (at John's very kind suggestion) and a way of remembering our little lost baby and a previous miscarriage too. I can't tell you how much comfort the necklace brought me, especially in the first few weeks after it arrived. The book represents Finn, the rocket is Angus and the poppy is for Islay. And the birth stones represent them as well as our babies who didn't make it.
I still love wearing it although now, with the healing that time allows, it is less of a prop and a crutch and more a real genuine pleasure. We were very lucky to have Katie remarkably quickly afterwards and I am sure that has helped an enormous amount too. Of course since Katie arrived the necklace hasn't been fully complete. So for my 40th last month John gave me the last* charm and birthstone (another uncut sapphire - for September, the same month as Finn's birthday).
Emma was wonderful to work with again. We had a little email exchange to decide on a charm for Katie. I had wondered about a rose (her middle name) or a little cat (we often call her Katie Kitty Cat) but in the end a sunshine felt right. She is the sunniest little girl, her personality has been full of the joys since she was first born............and she brings a huge ray of sun into our family. The little sunshine Emma made is just perfect.
I wear my necklace with a smile on my face, never forgetting times past and the events which have made us feel even more lucky to have such a beautiful family.
** The photo of me wearing the necklace is the best, and I know it isn't very good, of many many attempts. I can't tell you how relieved I was to eventually achieve one that showed the whole necklace and was, almost, in focus as well.

That's very special and a really beautiful necklace.
Aw, how bloody lovely!! I know how nice it is to have a special piece of jewellery and yours is perfect!
It's beautiful Julie, truly, what a wonderful memory keeper to have.
We stuck at four too, despite thinking that we might have liked more. One child for each of their parents total of four hands ... I decided I never wanted one of them to be left without a hand to hold.
What a beautiful idea, and love the wee sun :o)
Oh, I love the idea of your necklace. It is perfect in every way.

Children are such gifts, the ones we have and the ones that are not with us, your necklace is such a lovely thing to have.
I remember this necklace, a beautiful way to capture memories. I agree- four is the magic number :)
Hello again
I'm glad you enjoyed my Birchen Edge post, I just stopped by to tell you I have updated it to include a video, which another blogger has allowed my to use - he uploaded it this evening and it gives a good feel of the edge and shows the rocks and monuments nicely. You don't have to go back to watch it, but just in case you want to, I'm letting you know!
hi julie, it is beautiful to remember all your children this way. thanks for showing us, emma's work is lovely.
I love Emma's work - have a necklace or two myself - but I think yours is truly special and something that will be treasured always.

Hi Julie, it is a very beautiful necklace and even more special with it's many meanings. I admire your four, I stopped at two, I love my boys and if I were younger I'd have gone for one more, but I'm not. My friend (same age as me) is pregnant with her sixth!!! She manages so well and this doesn't even include her step children. Bethxx
that is a wonderful neckless
I love Emma's work
