We realised on Sunday that we haven't walked at Pressmennan Wood for ages (just over two years in fact - I love that I can check back on my blog, not that I chronicle all our walks but a fair few make their way onto this little record). We didn't have snow in February 2011 and the plants were at least as far along even though it was several calendar weeks earlier.
Mr Frog, below, is a new addition to the wood carvings - I showed a few in the last post too. The children hadn't come across the concept of making a wish with a penny and really enjoyed doing so. I wondered who was the first person to make a wish with Mr Frog?
We had a lovely but bitterly cold walk. The hazel catkins are out and the honeysuckle is coming into leaf but not much else is showing signs of knowing the equinox has passed. The wooden bridge would have entertained the children for ages - they climbed and crawled and jumped (thankfully the ditch was dry). Islay was a rabbit and I'm pretty sure the boys imagined they were Olympic athletes. Given the temperature we had to move them on sooner than they would have really liked.
Mum knit both Islay's hat and cardigan. The cardigan was blogged here and is getting a bit small so should really be put aside for Katie. The hat was knit from this book. We think she looks very sweet wearing it and she loves it.
It is still very cold and we have had snow showers on and off most days for the last week or so. In many ways it is lovely weather. Just a little lacking in sunlight and warmth!

| Katie's nose is getting very bashed - we have her so wrapped up when she is walking outside that she isn't managing to get her hands down if she falls |

We went out for a family walk at the week and Maxi's hands got so cold he cried. I fear that he may be going down the outlaws raunaulds rout. He had gloves on and mits on top.
Here on the coast the wind is biting
Mum and I are in agreement, we want to be in your family! (sarah at mums) x
Looks lovely, a shame it's so cold though - it is here too, sub zero all the time with the wind chill and only about 1 or 2 degrees without wind.
Your photos are great. I try to blog all my walks as I love using my blog as an extra memory! It's easier to retrieve information from that than my actual memory! It's amazing how much time passes between visit to places... I think it was just last year and when I look, discover it was 2 or 3 years ago!
It's always nice to see you get out and about with your kids, I'm sure they will remember all the fun times you have had as a family.
Looks like a lovely walk. I remember when mine would come with us and the dog for long walks, now it's usually just us and Harry! Julie x
Oh what a wonderful walk you all had! We need to get out in the woods again soon (a series of colds and viruses has kept us from braving the very cold weather of late). I miss walking out and about like this.
I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you in my 15 "very inspiring bloggers" post http://amandaclairedesigns.typepad.com/amanda-claire-designs/2013/03/very-inspiring-blogger-award.html
Aww, I have visions of Katie rather like a Weeble!
