Back home on Saturday we had a five year old and 3 year old staying overnight. They are the children of close friends but we were a little nervous because of their age. We needn't have been as everyone had a lot of fun and, eventually, all the small people went to sleep to let me and John relax a little.
Other friends had gifted us huge amounts of plums from their overflowing trees. This year seems to have been such a good one for fruit, certainly around here. We ate as many as we could manage but they were ripening fast so I made a batch of Spicy Plum Chutney and another of Plum Jam.
The jam isn't quite so pretty as the Strawberry Jam I made earlier in the summer but I am quite fond of the slighty softer colour although I don't know how you would describe it. Any ideas?
*I think I have finished tinkering with the blog for now. Special thanks to Annie for her very gratefully received tips and help. Amongst other things I had set it too wide for viewing on ipads and other smaller devices. I think it now fits.......but if it doesn't please do tell me!

Sounds like you had a super weekend and the perfect late summer weather for it
That sounds like a perfect way to spend a weekend. That jam looks wonderful... hope it tastes as good as it looks! Julie x

Hi Julie - thanks for stopping by my blog.
What a wonderful sounding weekend. You certainly made the most of the gorgeous warm weather we had. That plum jam looks divine. I don't know how you'd describe the colour - it's a sort of deep peachy red - but it's very pretty.

Glad to have been of help Julie :)
I think your scrummy jam is a rusty hued amber :)
Oh I am envious of your camping, we keep meaning to go and pitch at my sister's, other-half's, 'wood' which he has bought and is his pride and joy. I suspect it would be a similar image, boys with sticks/fires, older with beers and girls cooking - ha ha - that observation made me laugh. I'd love to offer advice on blog layout etc but I am totally rubbish at that, it looks great to me. Bethx
How lovely Julie to be camping, its such a lovely time of year at the moment, perfect for nights spent around the fire :) Your children must've loved every minute of it! I feel quite jealous! Love the plum jam too, I bet it will come in handy and lovely to make your own. I'm searching for fabrics online today to start a quilt for my bed, have taken a lot of inspiration from many of your own quilts on here, wish me luck! safxxx
Sound like you all had a wonderful weekend, and the plum jam looks great, like autumn in a jar :) thanks for stopping by my blog.

Hello! Discovered your blog via Haggiz and so glad I did. The North Berwick reference caught my eye and I realised that we're almost neighbours. I've never tried the Rocketeer but love N Berwick so will have to visit. Helen
