I really should learn to think before I speak. I have always been prone to jumping in with both feet and then having to extricate myself rapidly - that's assuming I've noticed what I've done which I think (she says hopefully) I usually do. And then I feel terrible for ages.
Well, thinking along those lines, my post wishing for snowy weather every Christmas holiday possibly should have been phrased a bit more carefully. Perhaps along the lines - 'but not to the extent that people can't get to work, school, out of their houses etc etc'! I know, I know, its boring to keep talking about the weather BUT it really is amazing. We have so much snow and, apart from the fact that I have lots of hyper kids to entertain (including my 18 month old niece but I'll tell you more about her another time), its not causing us too many problems. I have a feeling it may be another matter for some people.
As for us we spent ages out yesterday morning and had so much fun. We made a snow dog and some snow puppies. Islay discovered she could sledge down steps on her well padded (lots of winter clothes) bottom. And the boys ran around like boys.
I didn't take the camera. I reckoned four children and two dogs (we're looking aftern my mum and dad's just now and I'll tell you more about him another day too) was really quite enough to try and keep track of. And John would have a hard time forgiving me if I damaged his pride and joy,the camera that is (not me, the kids or the dogs), even if I made him lots of shortbread.
So, the photos here are from one of our Christmas walks before we had quite so much snow. We were at Tyninghame which is one of the many beautiful parts of East Lothian. We didn't visit the Country Store and coffee shop this time. It serves great coffee and cakes. I have been know to cycle there with a friend to scoff cake and then cycle back. It takes an hour of determined cycling each way so I'm quite sure the cake is exercised off by time we get home!
