Oh bother again - our camera isn't talking to our PC. It appears to be taking lovely pictures but it wants to keep them to itself. I've tried everything I can think of to persuade it to share but its just not willing.
I guess its a problem with the connecting cable and I'm desperately hoping John will be able to speak to it more nicely than me. If not I'll have to try and get hold of a new cable and see if that works.
Its so frustrating tho' as I have just taken some pictures of my, almost completed, draft dress (just needs hemming) and some crochet I have been playing around with.
I even took a picture of the zip on the dress. Its the first time I've fitted a zip - and this is an invisible zip no less - so I'm feeling extremely pleased with myself. Doesn't take much!
The crochet, with some hugely huggable cotton** wool (is it called wool when its cotton?), is an attempt to make a corsage. I'm just playing around at the moment but it looks quite pretty (you'll just have to believe me). Stupidly I didn't write down how many stitches and what kind and which colour - duh. I think it needs more work anyway before I have something properly wearable.
I couldn't go with a completely photo free post so here's a picture, taken ages ago, of my needle case. Made for me by my Grannie (my mum's mum not the one I posted about a week or so ago) when I was just a wee girl. I remember her giving it to me and being so pleased she'd made something just for me.
** Perhaps its time for a confession. I have a complete love for the feel of soft cotton wool (that doesn't sound right but I don't know what else to call it). As a baby I became very attached to my cotton cellular blanket so mum cut one into pieces and a bit of 'blanket' became my comforter. I still take great comfort from the feel and in fact have one last remaining piece of my 'blanket' squirreled away for times of dire stress - which, thankfully, is very infrequent.

Hope you get the camera sorted as I am looking forward to seeing the dress
Its soooooo annoying. Julie
Blimey blimey blimey. I am soooooo sorry to say that we're full - a bee with 15 is definitely full. I love your gorgeous blog and your amazing Folksy embroidery. I also see you're in Scotland and, as much as my original intention was to make the first bee international, I have also realised that I am really enjoying being in touch with the very few UK quilters that there are. I have added a special bloglist just for them and added you to it. Have you looked at the Quilting Bee Blocks group on flickr? They have bees starting constantly and, by the very nature of Flickr, they tend to be fresh and modern. They are at http://www.flickr.com/groups/quiltingbeeblocks/discuss/72157617103871916/page5/. Good luck and keep in touch. Lynne X
Thanks Lynne. I'm a bit annoyed that I left it too late to join but I'll have a look around on Flickr as you suggest. For some reason I've never spent any time on Flickr - I suspect I'll get sucked right in and completely hooked! Juliex
Oh I just hate it when the camera and computer do not connect... especially when you've been as busy as you have been. I find when I crochet I have to use pure cotton or bamboo yarn or the acrylic has to be super-sot because otherwise my fingers go all tingly in a horrible way... I'm very picky with textures ;o)
Amanda - yes texture is so importnat. i'm a big fan of natural materials both for fabric and yarn. Bamboo yarn is just wonderful. Juliex
Oh how annoying technology can be! I so want to see the mock up of the dress. Hu hum I'm not going to make a mock up just going to jump right in and hope for the best!! You're so much more organised than I, I've not even ordered the fabric yet! When's the wedding again Oh 9 weeks thats ages away!!!!! Justine xx
Hi Julie, I have been sent over to you from Lynne at Lily's quilts, I understand that you, like me were to late for her sewing bee, have you had any luck finding another one to join ? If you do please let me know, or perhaps we could start up our own and organise it together ? Let me know what you think..
I hate it when technology 'fails', drives me nuts! Can't wait to see the dress and I love the needle case, so nice to have things made by other generations they hold so many memories, mine was also made by my Gran. Bx
Maria, sorry to take so long to get back to you - we have been away. I haven't really had any luck with finding a quilting bee. I checked out the flickr link from Lynne but didn't really see one open just now that appealed to me. I think the idea of starting one up is great altho' I'm definitely not experienced at quilting or fickr......so might need to rely on your expertise. What sort of thing would suit you? Juliex
Hi Beth - been having more dramas with the b****y camera while we've been away this weekend and its definitely driving me nuts!
I think I must be quite a sentimental person as I love handed down things. Julie
Hi Julie, I have spoken to Lynne and she would be prepared to help us set up our own bee ! I will get more info and get back to you soon..
Maria - Brilliant! Will look forward to hearing from you. Juliex
Julie, Do you have an email address for me to contact you please. Mine is meandma@virgin.net
Thanks Maria
Maria - we're obviously on the same wavelength - emailed you a wee while ago! Juliex
