We went to Barns Ness beach, a new one to us but only 15 minutes from home. We did find some fossils but nothing very spectacular. We now know that we should have been to the west of the lighthouse and so next time we'll do that (here). I think next time will be quite soon as we had such fun.
Very surprisingly no one got wet - well, nothing more than soggy sleeves.
Moray, the dog, sat quite patiently while we scoffed our sandwiches........and then hoovered up all the crumbs. He doesn't seem to mind sand with his crumbs (and neither does Katie).
I'm having fun in full party prep mode today. Lots of baking for Angus' 9th birthday party on Saturday. It will be bow and arrow making at my mum and dad's.........and if and when that becomes less exciting, or sooner if they begin to endanger each other, there'll be football too.

Lovely photos and what an enjoyable day it out it sounds. I love a bit of fossil hunting, but I have to make do with looking in limestone, not being near any beaches!

Fossil hunting pics look great, we had a bril time fossil hunting on the fossil coast in Dorset last Summer. I remember my Father making me a bow and arrow from garden canes and string when I was little, but then having it taken off me when I nearly put my brothers eye out ! I hope Angus has a great birthday and party.

We haven't been brave enough to have a picnic this year yet. You all always look as if you are having such fun! The new beach you have discovered looks so lovely.
