Weekending - Butterdean Wood

Another busy but fun weekend.  We had my niece and nephew for the day on Saturday and introduced them to the delights of cooking sausages on a fire* (actually, really just heating up already cooked sausages but they don't need to know that).
This week started off with a real blast.  John was called off to work just after 6am, Angus forgot his viola but neither of us realised until we got to school (a lot of running followed this discovery), and I may or may not have two extra kids home after school today (....it is a long story but it would be quite useful to know if they are coming or not!).  All small things but enough to leave me feeling a bit like the week has definitely started! Here's hoping it settles down and that yours is a lovely one.

*  We use the local Forest School fire pit - John is a Forest School leader but doesn't get the chance to lead many sessions these days.

Such a lovely forest walk Julie :) I especially like the little sausage fire and the beautiful trees, your kids must love it! It must be a wonderful way to clear your head walking ready for the week. Don't worry I'm sure it will all settle down, funny how Mondays are always a bit manic! Hope you get a more relaxing day tmw, Safxxx

Butterdean wood looks lovely and it sounds like you had a perfect day out. We finally made it to Pressmennan wood last Monday and had a fabulous time looking out for all the little windows and doors carved into the trees ~ Thanks for the recommendation! Hope the rest of your week runs a bit more smoothly too :O)x

It looks like a lovely place for a wall and great fun for the children to eat sausages 'cooked' outdoors. I'm a qualified forest school leader too, but there are no forest schools close enough to me and my headteacher doesn't allow me any time to do forest school type things at school.

I love the name of that wood - it looks like such a fabulous walk...and a cook out as well - such earthy fun.

You obviously had much nicer weather over your way, it's been peeing down with howling gales - I drove to work through flipping sleet this morning!!!

Looks like a lovely day out. The weather was hit and miss here this weekend but we did go out on both days and even had a picnic in the rian on Sunday! Nothing as tasty as a sausage butty though!

Wonderful way to spend the day with little ones. Aaaah... You sound like a swan floating serenely on the pond, with busy little legs frantically moving under the water!

Love the idea of warming up and eating sausages in the forest. Wonderful memories being made. Only one forgotten lunch bag so far this week. Can't help feeling that I've forgotten something.

Lovely time spent in the woods, I don't remember when we last had a proper family trip, last Summer maybe, normally we would be having our bike trips now on Sundays, but my husband started working weekends and is not the same anymore, can't wait for Summer break :)
