Time to hit the beach

We made time to get to the beach a couple of times over the Easter holidays - and had so much fun.

First trip was to Seacliff which is one of our favourites. Unusually for around here you have to pay £2 to get to the beach - access is down a private road. This seems to put people off so it's generally quiet even on a lovely day. Like this::

Kipper played::

Islay made tracks in the sand with her 'tail'::

We could see Tantallon Castle - another of our favourite places to visit::

We visited the tiny little harbour::

We looked at the seaweed::

Next beach visit we actually spent most of the time next to the beach rather than on it - in the woods and dunes at Yellowcraigs.

We tried to get some good photos of all the children together - they tried very hard not to grimace but I'm not sure there was much success::

I think we need to go back to catching them unawares!

We took the kelly kettle and once we'd had enough running around and pulling faces we climbed the little hill and made some hot chocolate::

And the views up there were just lovely. This is Fidra::

John and the kids had lots more trips like this, while I tried not to look at the sun pouring into the office, and hopefully there's plenty more to come in the next few weeks.

Wow, what a perfect day, it looks divine, I have never ever visited Scotland, but you are tempting me

Looks heavenly and I would definitely pay £2 for such a quiet beach! We didn't make any of the coast area visits 'near' here in the holidays but they are always very busy and sadly no rock pools, although we like walking on the pebble beach at Deal and then stopping at a fab fish and chip shop. Still, prefer the look of yours!

It seems odd to me having to pay but with a gorgeous beach like that I don't think I would mind . I think it would be a mad house if I stopped buying cakes etc altogether lol

Hi again Mrs Mad - we have some wonderful beaches up here and in most parts of Scotland you're never far from one. There's lots of other good stuff too! Am I right in thinking you're in North Yorkshire? I'm sure that's somewhere well worth visiting. Juliex P.S. How do I comment on your blog, I can't work it out?!

Beth - it is good when they're not too busy....but still there's a lot to be said for good fish and chips! Juliex

Periwinkle - I started the no shop bought cakes and biscuits about a year ago and John was seriously disgruntled at first. I do slip up occasionally, and I do make a fair bit of homebaking plus we both munch on Green and Blacks chocolate so its not all a picture of health! Juliex
