I had the sudden urge, a few weeks ago, to make some tops for the girls. I really should have been doing lots of other things but I was in one of those moods where I just had to get sewing.
So, tunic tops it was. Very quick and easy and very gratifying. The most fun bit was adding little details to each.Katie's top got ribbon around the cuffs and hem.
And Islay's has little pockets. Which she loves. Adding pretty pockets is a very easy way to please a 5 year old!
In case you were wondering.........yes, I do iron, occasionally and possibly not as much as I should. I like the spotty fabric I used for Islay's tunic, and it was good value from Ikea, but it does seem to show up my lack of house-work skills rather more than I'd like.
Two happy girls and one happy mummy. And the things that needed doing? I can't remember what they were but they did either get done in the end or, if they didn't get done, they actually weren't that important after all. I must remember that more often.

I love your girls tunics and the material is some pretty too.
My daughter and I were struggling with the sewing machine this morning to add a hood to her camping blanket.(She is a Young leader in Guides), I just hope no one looks to closely at the stitching!
Your girls are so lucky to have a talented Mum.

Oh three cheers for you! The first for making such ADORABLE tops for your girls - I must remember those pocket shapes - second, for following your heart to the sewing machine, and the third cheer is for that lessons in wisdom. How often do we delay doing what we really want to do just because we feel obliged to do those everyday timeconsuming tasks.
Have a lovely weekend,
Stephanie
They are beautiful - I love anything with a bit of pocket detail - and honestly....I didn't even notice.
Have a beautiful weekend,

thay are both very pretty ❤
and this is just the inpiration i need at the moment with a little grandaughter due in just two weeks time.
the pockets are adorable! i can imagine a five year old being full of smiles with such a lovely top to wear.
Sarah - I must remember to put Islay's name down for Brownies. I'm sure the hood on the camping blanket will be wonderful, and no one will notice what the stitching is like! Juliex
Stephanie - I'm dreadful for getting overwhelmed by the everyday tasks....and I really must remember this lesson! Juliex
Nina - I hope you have a beautiful weekend.....and thanks for not noticing! Juliex
Dorothy - you must be getting very excited, two weeks isn't long! Juliex
I especially like Katie's tunic - the fabric is beautiful and it looks lovely on her. Great job! Sometimes I wish I liked using my sewing machine...
Anne - I wish I could crochet like you do! Juliex
By all means sew when the urge strikes! Otherwise it becomes just another job to do.
The tunics are adorable. And ironing is overrated. :)
They are lovely tunics, I especially like the multi coloured flower print. I iron my shop sewing to perfection but I NEVER iron anything else, it's a kind of joke around here. Bethx (the linen cat)
thank you so much for the good wishes :)
have a lovely weekend xx
